Sarah Palin’s Pledge

Sarah Palin is quickly becoming an expert on attracting political controversy.  It was recently confirmed that she was a member of the secessionist Alaska Independence Party, which comes on the heels of her announcement that her unwed teenage daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant (the story resulted from a particularly nasty smear campaign fed by the jerks at Daily Kos, as far as I can tell).  Palin, though, is demonstrating that she has the ability to handle the controversy.  Today she pledged to pose nude in Playboy before the general election.

“I really think that the American people need to get to know me,” Palin said while taking off her clothes during the interview and practicing poses for the upcoming photo shoot, “Seeing me completely naked in a photo shoot is probably the best way.  Besides, it’s not just the pictures, it’s also the questions I’ll get asked.  People should know my measurements, my turnons and turnoffs, and my interests in order to know me on a personal level.  After you read a Playboy, don’t you feel like you know enough to carry on a conversation with the women in the magazine?  I know I always do!”

– By the way, kudos to Barack Obama for his classy handling of the Bristol Palin controversy.  He really moved up multiple notches in my eyes and made me a lot more confident about his ability to be President.  I was considering voting 3rd-party as a protest vote over multiple issues (FISA vote, Biden as VP, and Obama’s health care plan), but Obama’s handling of the convention, the way he utilized Hillary at the convention, and now this, all point to a real leader.
