Clinton Supporters Not Rushing To Obama

Posted by royters on July 9, 2008

Hillary Clinton’s supporters have been reluctant to get behind the candidacy of Barack Obama. Multiple reasons have been given for this phenomenon. Some say that it is because Obama’s supporters are not doing much to help pay down Clinton’s campaign debt, others blame it on a difference of positions, but the truth is that Clinton supporters just don’t like how Obama runs his campaign.

“We’ve done a lot of research into this issue, and it turns out that Hillary’s supporters just don’t like the fact that Obama ran a winning campaign,” said Terry McCauliffe in an interview with reporters, “Winning is something that the Clinton supporters have never been comfortable with, and Obama threw that in their face. Clinton supporters prefer to see a candidate run a campaign based on unrealistic plans that ignore caucus states and spend all funds before Super Tuesday which leads to piling up about $22 million in debt, half of which is personal. They just can’t trust a candidate who tries to conserve money, focus on each state as it comes along, and win an election delegate by delegate.”

Political analysts are not sure how Obama will be able to deal with this problem, or if dealing with it is even possible. “Um, wow, wow,” said Jeffrey Toobin of CNN, “I don’t even know how you would deal with people who are too dumb to get behind the winning candidate of their party. I guess you should probably just write these people off and keep moving. You would think that the thought of having McCain deal with the Iraq War and the next round of Supreme Court appointments would be enough to get Hillary’s supporters over to the Obama camp, but I guess some people just can’t be moved.”

To pay down her debt, she should show more cankles.

It’s the arrogant, condescending, insulting attitude of the Obama-bots toward Clinton supporters which keeps them from being won over. Keep up the good work, (A)bama-nation!

Kind of amazing how arrogant Hillary Clinton supporters are…speaking as if they expect Obama to just beg for their trinkets. News flash: Obama is doing just fine WITHOUT your money. Or didn’t you notice how he raised more cash then hillary AND mccain?

    Mmmm, cankle-porn . . .

    AA:
Yeah, maybe there’s some condescending attitudes, but wouldn’t you rather have Obama than McCain putting justices on the Court?

    Reg:
I agree that some of the Hillary supporters are just being ridiculous, but why is it that Hillary appears to be doing most of the unity work? She’s staying out of the media, she had a meeting w/her supporters and Obama, and Obama isn’t really doing a whole lot to bring people together. Only $100,000 to pay down the debt from his big donors? What is that about?
Oh well, I figure that it will work itself out and the Dems will get together in the end.

  5. YEAH! YEAH! Keep infighting and give us the White House! It’s time to move this country boldly forward to the 18th Century!

If I wanted Hillary in office I would have sent my money to her when she was still running for office, why should I our any one else now help pay off her debt. I want Obama in office, and have great hope that his VP is not Hillary. I and other don’t want to deal with the issues she would bring to the white house. I just heard that people who support Obama should support more of Hillary ideas WHY??? I did not want to support them before why now.

Paying off debt is standard, so I don’t see why the Obama people are so reluctant. I mean, she shouldn’t get anywhere near the whole amount paid off, but more than $100,000 isn’t that much to ask.

Also, Obama and Hillary agreed on almost everything, so I don’t understand that whole argument about them not having the same positions.

    Barbara,
I was just wondering. How can one go from Hillary to McCain? I was a Hillary supporter too. What are you “hearing” that you like about McCain? I don’t mean to be confrontational. I’m just interested.

I would also like to hear that. Obama and Hillary have almost identical positions on the issues and McCain is way to the right of either.

So why don’t Hillary’s 18 million supporters pay her DEBT??????

  13. royters said

B/c most of them are maxed out on what they can donate . . .

The Clinton supporters who won’t support Obama are not doing so for any of the reasons they say. There’s one rerason and one reason only. It’s the same reason why dems left the party in the 50’s when blacks moved into the party. Now there’s a black leading the party. Nuf’ said.

I won’t be voting for Obama unless Hillary is on the ticket. Period. Is it because he is African American? No. I am an American of African slave descent. Why don’t I support him? He seems like every other “Washington insider” in that he will say whatever to get elected. Why then, must you ask, I support Hillary. Primary reason…Bill. He was a GREAT President. She would have him to lean on to fix this country. Obama, doesn’t have that and doesn’t have a lot of experience on his own. He can make great speeches that don’t really say much. Spell it out…how are you gonna reduce or stop taxes for 95% of the people without it affecting social security, medicare, etc. programs? Will we still have what is left of FEMA? Why should only kids receive health care? What about their parents? You get sick and can’t work…the children will also be affected. I just don’t understand how all of these big things are suppose to happen when we have such a hugh national debt…thanks Bush. How soon into his presidency will all of these promises be broken? For those of you that support him…start asking the tough questions like how are you going to do all of this?

That’s beyond dumb. Are liberals questioning him for his FISA vote b/c he’s black, too? Are people criticizing him for his NAFTA wobbling b/c he’s black? Stop w/the simplistic answers.

I think the racist argument doesn’t make much sense. Why would one be a Democrat & support civil rights etc & not vote just because of the color of the skin?

I know several real life men, not just internet personas, who during the primary voted for Obama because they didn’t want a woman in the white house. Oh and guess what? I live in a Southern state & the men I’m referring to were blue collar.

I was figuring the Hillary supporters were jumping the party because of experience & they felt burned on somethings that happened during the campaign such as the sexism.

I don’t think that’s legitimate reason to jump to another completely ideology. If one was supporting a candidate based on issues not personality etc, Obama & Hillary are siblings while McCain is that guy that lives on the other side of town who doesn’t shop in your grocery store.

I don’t really get it, but for those Hillary supporters out there that are voting for McCain let me know your reason. Maybe I can get it.

I find it amazing that the term “elitist” is somehow derogatory. In any other context, to be elite means to be the best!
